1939 Mercedes-Benz 770K Grosser Open Tourer, also known as Super Mercedes, was the parade vehicle of Adolf Hitler
The luxury Mercedes who served the Nazi leader for a parade ride will be sold on January 17 at an auction in the United States, the Worldwide Auctioneers House announced.
This is one of only four produced models. A 7.7-liter, 8-cylinder engine with a 230-hp, 5-speed transmission and a top speed of 160 km / h are in charge of this armored vehicle.
Also known as Super Mercedes, the car was a powerful propaganda instrument at the Third Reich – Hitler drove him to the victorious parade in Berlin following the capitulation of France in 1940, as well as during the visit of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini to Germany.
While Allied forces advanced through western Europe, before the end of the war, the vehicle was seized in France by US soldiers, who did not know anything about his history, included him in the military police fleet.
After the war, the car is purchased by a Belgian, which is owned by a veteran association from Virginia, and then returned to Europe in 2002.
The 10 percent price of the car, which will be sold at the announced auction, will be donated for an educational campaign for Nazism and the Holocaust, so that they will never be repeated again.
